About Balady
Balady Platform was developed in collaboration with various entities in the municipal sector to serve as the national portal supporting the local community. It reflects the government's efforts to improve municipal services and enhance interaction with citizens and beneficiaries. In its current phase, the Platform encompasses three main responsibilities:
Informational Services
To enable beneficiaries to make relevant decisions, which contributes to improving satisfaction with municipal sector entities.
Digital Services
To facilitate the digital submission of applications for the most frequently used licenses.
Interactive Services
To promote the concept of community partnership and improve the quality of services provided to beneficiaries.

History of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has passed through several important historical stages, most notably:
- 1395 AH / 1975 AD: The establishment of the two ministries, before their eventual merger, dates back to this year. Prince Majid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was the first to hold the position of Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Ministry manages its operations from its headquarters in the capital, Riyadh.
- 28 Safar 1424 AH / 30 April 2003 AD: King Fahd bin Abdulaziz issued a royal order to abolish the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (formerly the Ministry of Housing) and transfer its responsibilities to the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (currently the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing).
- 11 Jumada al-Thani 1442 AH / 24 January 2021 AD: A royal order was issued to merge the Ministry of Housing into the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and the ministry's name was amended to "Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing."
- 15 Muharram 1446 AH / 21 July 2024 AD: A royal order was issued to amend the name of the "Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing" to become the "Ministry of Municipalities and Housing."
